On April 22, 2025 the Broward MPO unveiled the Connected Communities Vision Kit for Central Broward. This represents a year long effort to analyze and develop recommendations and guidance to the central Broward community to support transit-oriented development for more connected communities. Recommendations included strategies for updating zoning and future land use, policies for affordable housing and demonstrations of potential development scenarios at key intersections and corridors.

On May 14, 2024, the Broward MPO hosted the Thriving Communities Program Project Internal Kick-Off event. The meeting included the MPO staff and the capacity building team from WSP, MHCP Colab and Accelerator for America with funding from USDOT. The team focused on community priorities to develop a vision and strategies to support and encourage transit-oriented development in Broward County with a focus on central Broward between the Florida Turnpike and I-95 which has the greatest need for transit connectivity.
