On July 10, the Colab team hosted a two-hour open house, inviting Augusta residents to weigh in on early recommendations and progress for the city’s zoning ordinance update. The session kicked off with Colab presenting highlights from the recent community survey, which drew 555 responses and revealed key community priorities and concerns.
Attendees then explored interactive boards covering topics like land uses, neighborhood character, development bonuses, and community incentives. Colab encouraged participants to add their feedback directly to the boards, sparking a lively and productive discussion.
Residents voiced strong interest in increasing affordable housing options, allowing for more density downtown, promoting flexible building designs and materials, and improving the project review process. The event wrapped up with participants leaving more informed about the zoning update—and having shared plenty of insightful ideas to help guide the next steps.
