Little Havana Pedestrian Priority Zone Block Gets a Green Facelift

Little Havana Pedestrian Priority Zone 3: Riverside / Jose Marti Park

Exciting progress is underway in Little Havana! The new low-impact street design at the entrance to Jose Marti Park is transforming the area into a greener, cooler, and more walkable community space.

The project introduces native landscaping, rain gardens, and shaded walkways that not only enhance the park’s entrance but also improve stormwater management and reduce extreme heat. Wider, pervious sidewalks and pavements will allow water to filter naturally while creating a more comfortable and attractive pedestrian experience.

By rethinking parking and prioritizing trees and green infrastructure, the design reflects the vision of the SW Streetscape Master Plan and the Little Havana Pedestrian Priority Zone—building a safer, more resilient neighborhood where streets connect people, not just cars.
