The European examples of street design are often used as the gold standard for planners. Our local engineers always roll their eyes because their hands are tied by arcane standards that were created for cities much smaller than those in South Florida. But little by little, they have been able to add more variation in their designs that address the needs of our urban areas. One day, I hope that they will be free to do something like I've shot in the video below.
