Background
Melissa Hege’s 22-year portfolio includes award winning plans which translate policies into practical applications. She has lectured and taught college courses on this subject. She is a regular guest lecturer for Miami Dade College’s Idea Center Reimagining Cities course to share insights on measuring successes of plans and implementation, as well as her Baywalk Pop-up initiative to activate the Baywalk at Port Boulevard and under the PortMiami Bridge.While at Miami DDA, she partnered with Miami Dade County Internal Services Department and the Miami Heat to remove fencing and concrete baricades between the AAArena and Parcel B.
Melissa is developing an online engagement platform which combines shared information with information exchange in response to outreach needs since the pandemic. She was nominated to Miami TPO’s Bicycle Pedestrian Committee and was committee liaison for the Underline’s Health and Design Committees.
