Migration is a temporary environmental art installation which will show the potential of a permanently improved and connected waterfront trail in Downtown Miami, while highlighting the disappearance of tree habitat for bird migration.

The pop-up installation will connect Parcel B behind American Airlines Arena, continue underneath PortMiami bridge and across the FEC tracks to the Miami Parking Authority lot at Bayside Marketplace, along publicly-owned waterfront land.

 

 

\Status Summary:

Permitting process is currently underway.

Fundraising completed by Winter 2017.

Currently the design is being adjusted to avoid conflicting with construction projects by WASA, Bayside Marketplace and the south side of the FEC slip.

Next steps include finalizing new concept and permitting.

\Accomplishments:

  1. Designed pop-up concept and renderings with internationally recognized landscape architecture firm, ArquitectonicaGeo

  2. Completed construction documents

  3. Raised $34K from five different sponsors

  4. Presentation and formal support from MPOs Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee

  5. Obtained letters of support from eight different entities including City and County Commissioners, PAMM and DDA

  6. Miami Foundation Public Space Challenge Winner

  7. Partnership with City of Miami as sponsoring agency.

  8. Executed access agreements with property owners (FDOT and County)

  9. Procured contractor

  10. Completed County permitting and permissions for project staging
